Women who are trying to leave an abusive (physical and/or emotional) relationship can feel stuck. In some cases the partner is so controlling that the woman’s phone and internet usage is monitored.
If you know a woman in that situation, this list of resources may be helpful – my suggestion is to look up the options for the woman and pass her a note with the information.
If you are friends with her and cannot shelter her directly (or her pets) – arming her with information is the next best thing (and perhaps aiding in the transportation).
Each of these has state by state listings of shelters as well as other services offered. The last one specializes in shelters that allow pets (most will allow certified support animals, but always check first).

Remember that leaving is a large step into a whole series of challenges for the woman and her kids and/or pets.
